Getting here
From Bangkok
From Bangkok, you can get bus & ferry combination tickets to Koh Tao (via Chumphon) with Lomprayah (www.lomprayah.com) and Sea Tran for around 850 Baht.
From Southern Bus Terminal - Government buses run regularly to Chumphon
from 09:30 to 22:00 daily. The journey normally takes about seven
hours (around 150-350 Baht).
From Kaosarn Road - daily bus & mini bus depart at 20:00-21.00 and arrives in Chumporn at approximately 04:00.
Express Train #85 - leaves Bangkok railway station at 19:15 daily and arrives in Chumporn between 3:30 and 5:00. 2nd class air conditioned and fan-cooled sleeping carriages and air-conditioned and fan-cooled ordinary carriages available. Ask the conductor to wake you up for Chumporn Station.
Another Sleeper train leaves Bangkok at 22:30 and arrives 06:00.
Alternatively, if your schedule is tight and your budget is right,
you can can fly to Koh Samui with Bangkok Airways (www.bangkokair.com)
and get the Sea Tran or Lomprayah fast ferry across to Koh Tao. The 06:00 flight is a bargain at only 2000 Baht if you buy online and it arrives in time to catch either of the morning ferries to Koh Tao.
From Koh Samui & Koh Phangan
Lomprayah (www.lomprayah.com) and SeaTran operate fast ferry services from Koh Samui (450-550 Baht) via Koh Phangan (350-450 Baht). The movie and air-conditioning keep you cool and entertained and maybe even keep your mind off your post Full Moon party hangover!
Songserm Travel run slower ferries to and from Koh Samui, also via Koh Phangan.
From Chumphon
Several ferry companies operate daily services to and from Chumphon. Lomprayah (www.lomprayah.com) and SeaTran are the fastest and most comfortable (around 550 Baht).
Songserm Travel runs a daily boat which leaves Ta Yang Pier at 7:00. They also provide regular buses from Chumporn Train Station to their office (about 1 km) and at 06:30, a bus from their office to the pier in time to catch the 07:00 boat, arriving at 10:00.
From Surat Thani
The night boat leaves Ban Don Pier, Surat Thani at 11pm, takes 7 hours
and costs around 400 baht.
From Overseas
You can fly to Koh Samui from many airports, including Bangkok, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, and Phuket, with Bangkok Airways (www.bangkokair.com) and get the SeaTran fast ferry across to Koh Tao. SeaTran's pier is located about five minutes from Samui Airport. Ferry tickets can be purchased at the airport and transport to the pier is included in the ticket price.
